Malibu is the longest drive on our list, so we try to put two Malibu visits on one day, one near the beach and one up a canyon. The two ask for different things. A house on the sand gets more time on the cap, the chase cover and any metal the salt has reached. A canyon house gets more time on the spark arrestor screen.
Dispatch coverage
This city already sits inside our route, even on blocks we have not written up yet. Scan the nearby spots below, or call now and we will confirm your address on the spot.
The Woolsey Fire burned through much of Malibu in November 2018, and the Palisades Fire reached parts of it in January 2025. If the house is being sold, or rebuilt and sold, the buyer's inspector will look at the cap and arrestor first, so that is where our report starts too. That shapes how soon we recommend a follow-up, which materials we reach for, and what ends up flagged in the written report once the visit wraps.
Most Malibu appointments cover full firebox and refractory panel inspection, damper operation and sealing test, and smoke shelf and smoke chamber evaluation. Before the truck leaves, we walk you through what we found and flag anything worth handling before the next heating season starts.
Homes in Malibu and near Point Dume and Malibu Colony book through the same line, no separate process for either side of the map. ZIP codes 90265 all sit inside our Malibu, CA service area.

our home base on the Westside
Brentwood is where Robinson Chimney Company is based, so it gets first pick of the day. A Brentwood property can have more than one fireplace, plus an outdoor fire feature, and each one gets its own line in our report. When a house here is going on the market, we list every chimney on the property, not just the one in the living room.
View nearby citythe beach city just south of Brentwood
Santa Monica is a short drive down San Vicente from Brentwood. We treat the blocks near the water and the blocks further inland differently. Near Ocean Park and the beach, the metal on top of the chimney goes first. North of Montana, it is more often the masonry.
View nearby citynext door to Brentwood, west across the canyons
Pacific Palisades is next door to our Brentwood base. Since the January 2025 fire, we get calls here about a chimney that is still standing next to damage, or a house being repaired before it goes back on the market. In both cases the question is the same: is this chimney sound enough to use, and can we show it on paper.

Beverly Hills is its own city, east of us along Sunset. A Beverly Hills listing can carry custom masonry and stone surrounds that the seller wants kept as they are. Our report says which repairs keep the original work and which would change it, so the seller can decide before a buyer asks.
View nearby citya small, dense city between Beverly Hills and Hollywood
West Hollywood became its own city in 1984, and a fireplace here may be in a building, not a house. A unit owner selling a condo with an original fireplace needs a report on that one flue, plus a plain note on anything shared with the building that we could not reach.
